What a pet costs per year

Your own figures, added up by category — and the list of items a budget usually misses.

How you are entering the amounts

The switch applies to the whole form. A yearly item (vaccination, insurance) entered as monthly is a twelve-times-more-expensive animal — which is why this is one choice and not nine.

Vaccination, the annual check — and a dental under anaesthetic, the line that wrecks budgets most often.

Boarding or a sitter for holidays, transport, things chewed.

Any currency — nothing is converted, only added up.

Fill in the fields above and the result appears on its own.

How it is calculated

Nothing here is pre-filled. Published "average" pet-cost figures come from retailer press releases and non-comparable survey panels that cannot be checked against a primary source, so this tool does not use them and adds up what you enter instead. The other thing it is for is the list of categories a budget misses until they arrive: a dental under anaesthetic, holiday boarding, things chewed.

Where this comes from

No external source — just your own figures, added up.

This is an estimate from publicly published rules, not veterinary advice. A sick, nursing or pregnant animal is a vet's decision.
